This will give an initial indication of eligibility for an IEC International Co-Op work permit.<\/p>\n<p>You may then create a profile, and choose to be entered into the IEC International Co-Op pool for your country.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC will select candidates at random from the pool, and provide them with an \u2018Invitation to Apply\u2019, or ITA, for a <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/work\/work-permits\/\">work permit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage, applicants will need to upload <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/immigration\/iec\/documents-iec-work-permit-application\/\">all supporting documentation<\/a>. For International Co-Op applicants, this includes a letter from your current educational institution which proves the applicant is currently enrolled there. An internship agreement, signed by the applicant, their employer, and their training centre, is also required. The agreement must show:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The position title,<\/li>\n<li>A description of tasks to be performed by the student,<\/li>\n<li>Exact start and end dates of the internship,<\/li>\n<li>The complete address of the internship site, and<\/li>\n<li>Contact information for the employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The applicant will need to pay the IEC participation fee. In recent years, this fee has been CAD $172. Employers will also need to pay a C$230 Employer Compliance fee through their online Employer Portal. Once this is paid, they\u2019ll receive an Offer of Employment number, which the applicant will then need to supply along with their application.<\/p>\n<p>Once you submit your application, staff at IRCC will spend approximately eight weeks assessing it, and may request additional documents during this process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/immigration\/iec\/iec-canada-visa\/\"><u>Read our IEC Canada FAQ guide for more advice<\/u><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","block_settings":{"margin_size_top":"default","margin_size_bottom":"default"},"content_alignment":{"mobile":"none","desktop":"none"},"width":{"mobile":"100","desktop":"100"}},{"acf_fc_layout":"google_ad","ad_unit":"","ad_size":"728x90","append_size_to_ad_unit":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"content","content":"<h2 id=\"h-eligibility\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>To be eligible for an IEC International Co-Op work permit, candidates must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a student, registered at a post-secondary institution<\/li>\n<li>Have a signed letter proving a job offer, or a contract of employment, for a work placement or internship in Canada. The internship must be linked to the applicant\u2019s field of study, and classified as having a <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/immigration\/immigration-to-canada\/national-occupational-classification-noc-codes\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Occupational Classification (NOC)<\/a> TEER category of 0, 1, 2, or 3. NOC skill type 4 positions may be considered in certain circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate that the work placement or internship is required in order to complete their studies.<\/li>\n<li>Be a citizen (passport holder) of one of the 21 countries that participate in IEC and have an International Co-Op pool.<\/li>\n<li>Have a valid passport for the duration of their stay in Canada (the work permit issued will not be longer than the validity of the passport).<\/li>\n<li>Be between the ages of 18 and 30 or 35 (inclusive) at the time of application. The upper age limit depends on the applicant\u2019s country of citizenship, as outlined in the \u2018Who can apply?\u2019 section above.<\/li>\n<li>Have the equivalent of at least CAD$2,500 on landing to help cover initial expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to take out health insurance for the\u00a0<strong>full duration\u00a0<\/strong>of their IEC permit (participants may have to present evidence of this insurance at the point of entry in Canada). This will give an initial indication of eligibility for an IEC International Co-Op work permit.<\/p>\n<p>You may then create a profile, and choose to be entered into the IEC International Co-Op pool for your country.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC will select candidates at random from the pool, and provide them with an \u2018Invitation to Apply\u2019, or ITA, for a <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/work\/work-permits\/\">work permit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage, applicants will need to upload <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/immigration\/iec\/documents-iec-work-permit-application\/\">all supporting documentation<\/a>. For International Co-Op applicants, this includes a letter from your current educational institution which proves the applicant is currently enrolled there. An internship agreement, signed by the applicant, their employer, and their training centre, is also required. The agreement must show:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The position title,<\/li>\n<li>A description of tasks to be performed by the student,<\/li>\n<li>Exact start and end dates of the internship,<\/li>\n<li>The complete address of the internship site, and<\/li>\n<li>Contact information for the employer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The applicant will need to pay the IEC participation fee. In recent years, this fee has been CAD $172. Employers will also need to pay a C$230 Employer Compliance fee through their online Employer Portal. The internship must be linked to the applicant\u2019s field of study, and classified as having a <a href=\"https:\/\/moving2canada.com\/immigration\/immigration-to-canada\/national-occupational-classification-noc-codes\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Occupational Classification (NOC)<\/a> TEER category of 0, 1, 2, or 3. NOC skill type 4 positions may be considered in certain circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate that the work placement or internship is required in order to complete their studies.<\/li>\n<li>Be a citizen (passport holder) of one of the 21 countries that participate in IEC and have an International Co-Op pool.<\/li>\n<li>Have a valid passport for the duration of their stay in Canada (the work permit issued will not be longer than the validity of the passport).<\/li>\n<li>Be between the ages of 18 and 30 or 35 (inclusive) at the time of application. The upper age limit depends on the applicant\u2019s country of citizenship, as outlined in the \u2018Who can apply?\u2019 section above.<\/li>\n<li>Have the equivalent of at least CAD$2,500 on landing to help cover initial expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to take out health insurance for the\u00a0<strong>full duration\u00a0<\/strong>of their IEC permit (participants may have to present evidence of this insurance at the point of entry in Canada).
